Cardinals meet to select Pope Francis’ successor
The conclave to vote for a new pope begins Wednesday, May 7. Around 130 red-robed cardinals from all over the world processed into St. Peter’s Basilica to hold Mass ahead of the papal conclave — a centuries-old tradition through which a new head of the Catholic Church is elected.
